Posted on December 23rd, 2009

Just for fun, we decided to write a review on some of the emerging tech in 2009.  We thought about writing a review about our company, but that was too easy and can be summarized by a glance at our blog.  We thought we’d write a review on all the other cool tech that’s emerging in the world instead for our readers, clients, and lovable staff: http://www.iteamtech.ca/2009

Oracle get’s the go ahead to buy Sun Micro

Posted on August 20th, 2009

Oracle said on Thursday that the U.S. Department of Justice has approved its plan to buy Sun Microsystems.

With Sun’s shareholders having given the $9.50 per share deal the nod last month, the remaining major hurdle is approval from European antitrust regulators. Oracle declined to comment beyond a statement confirming the DOJ’s move.

The Department of Justice had said in June it needed more time to look into the deal, but has now given its stamp of approval.

Oracle announced its $7.4 billion bid for Sun back in April, following Sun’s rejection of overtures from IBM. IBM was said to be still interested in Sun and somewhat blindsided by Oracle’s move.

The acquisition is part of a change in thinking for Oracle, which at one time eschewed mergers but has gone on a buying spree in recent years, gobbling up PeopleSoft and many other software companies.

Google Maps Improves Real Estate Search

Posted on July 8th, 2009

Google Maps first added real estate results to their maps about a year ago, and today they’ve announced several enhancements to the already impressive location-based real estate search tool.

We’ve added lots of markers that will show not only the ten most relevant listings with pins on the map, but also show a small circle on every other listing in that area using the search results layer, so you can get a really good idea of the distribution of properties for sale. You can click on each marker and each small circle to get more detailed information about the property.

This feature means you can now conduct a real estate search around a specific neighborhood, or see at a glance all the properties close to a BART stop. You can also pan the map to another area entirely to see listings there if you decide that another part of town is more your speed.
